Special Needs

Volunteering

Volunteering

From assisting with programs, shelving or mending books to a variety of other library tasks, volunteers play an integral part in the daily operation of Westchester Public Library.

Applications for volunteering are available at all library service desks. The minimum age is 14 years old. A screening interview will be held with the library director or the head of the department to allow them to match your interests and available hours with the library’s needs.

Youth Volunteer Program

This program recruits and trains teen volunteers to assist library staff and the public in the Youth Department. It provides teens 12 to 19 years old with confidence-building experience, which develops practical job skills and good customer/public service attitudes. Applications for volunteers during the summer reading program are available in April at the Westchester Public Library youth services desk. For more information, call (708) 562-3573 and ask to speak with a youth librarian.
