Library Card Services
REGISTERING FOR A LIBRARY CARD
Residents of Westchester are eligible for a library card. Two forms of ID with patron's name and Westchester address are required. Residents can register for a library card at the Circulation Desk or begin the process online:
Online Registration for Library Card
Westchester residents can pre-register online here for a library card and then stop by the Library to complete the process within 2 weeks. Bring library ID number you are given when you pre-register, along with a driver's license or state ID and another form of identification to verify your residency when you come to the Library. The library ID number will give you temporary access to Research Pro databases.
When you come to the Library to apply for a card or to complete the registration you began online, remember to bring 2 forms of identification. Examples of acceptable idenfication include:
Identity

Exception--if photo ID does not have up-to-date Westchester address:

Residents of Westchester under 16 years of age:
- May use identification with the family name and address (see above)
- Must also have a signature of a parent or legal guardian who resides in Westchester on the application form
- The parent or legal guardian must accompany the youth to the library when completing the application form.
How to Replace a Library Card
Report lost cards immediately to the library; patrons are
responsible for any items borrowed with their card until its loss
is reported. Replacement of a lost/stolen/damaged card is $2.00
and requires one piece of identification with proof of residency.
How to Renew a Library Card
Library cards expire every two years. Patrons wishing to
renew expired cards will need to bring the expired card to the circulation
desk, complete a new application form, and present one piece of
identification with name and address proving Westchester residency.
Temporary Internet Pass
One-day visitor’s passes are available for accessing
the Internet in the library. Please request one at the youth or the adult service
desk.
Business/Organizational Cards
These cards are issued to the director or manager of a
business or organization with the Village of Westchester affiliation.
The application must be approved by the library director and is
valid for use only at the Westchester Public Library. The application
must be accompanied with a letter of request on business letterhead
stationary and requires one additional piece of organizational identification.
Temporary Resident Cards
Temporary, part-time or seasonal resident cards may be
issued with librarian approval. The expiration date is set by staff
but is limited to one year. A valid driver's license along with a major credit card will need to be presented in order to issue this temporary card; for use at the Westchester Public Library only. A limit of one card per family and a check-out limit of 10 items will be imposed for temporary card users.
